A Couple of Cuckoos Season 2 Unveils New Character, Visuals, and More

The highly anticipated second season of “A Couple of Cuckoos” has revealed a flurry of exciting updates, including the introduction of Hina Youmiya as the new character Ai Mochizuki. Accompanying this announcement is a fresh trailer and visual, showcasing the character and setting the stage for the upcoming storyline. Additionally, the ending theme song, “Anata de nakucha” performed by 22/7, has been unveiled, and the premiere is confirmed for July 2025. A Couple of Cuckoos Season 2

The production team for the sequel features Masakazu Hishida at the helm as director, with Jo Aoba handling the series composition. Kyoko Kon is responsible for the character designs, and Rei Ishizuka returns to compose the music.

The continuation of the anime series was initially announced on July 26, 2024. The first season, animated by Shin-Ei Animation and SynergySP, aired in April 2022. Yoshiyuki Shirahata directed the initial season, with Hiroaki Akagi serving as the chief animation director. The principal voice cast will reprise their roles, including:

  • Akari Kito as Erika Amano
  • Kaito Ishikawa as Nagi Umino
  • Nao Toyama as Hiro Segawa
  • Konomi Kohara as Sachi Umino

The anime is adapted from the manga authored by Miki Yoshikawa. Initially presented as a one-shot in September 2019, the series began its serialization in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine in January 2020. Kodansha is currently distributing the manga in English, with nine volumes currently available. The story centers around:

Nagi Umino, a 16-year-old high-achieving student at Meguro River Academy, discovers he was switched at birth. En route to meet his biological parents, he encounters the spirited Erika Amano, who persuades him to pose as her fake boyfriend to avoid an arranged marriage. Upon arriving at the dinner, Nagi learns that his parents and his biological parents have decided to resolve the hospital mix-up by arranging his marriage to their daughter, who happens to be Erika.
