AMAN JHA

Fans of classic anime have reason to celebrate – D.N.Angel, the beloved 2003 series based on Yukiru Sugisaki’s manga, is now streaming on Crunchyroll. All 26 episodes are available in Japanese audio with subtitles in English, Spanish, or Portuguese. The show can be streamed in several regions, including North America (excluding French-speaking Canada), South America, South Africa, the UK, Nordic countries, Australia, and New Zealand.

D.N.Angel: A Story of Love, Secrets, and Supernatural Twists

The anime follows Daisuke Niwa, a seemingly ordinary teenager who discovers a bizarre family secret on his 14th birthday. Whenever Daisuke experiences feelings for his crush, Risa Harada, he involuntarily transforms into Dark Mousy, a suave and mysterious phantom thief with a long legacy. Unlike your average criminal, Dark doesn’t steal for personal gain. He carries on the Niwa family tradition, stealing magical artifacts with ties to his own mysterious existence.

Daisuke’s double life becomes even more tangled when Satoshi Hiwatari, a genius classmate with secrets of his own, begins pursuing Dark in an effort to capture him. As both Daisuke and Dark navigate their complicated emotions, friendships, and secrets, the series explores themes of love, identity, and fate, all wrapped in supernatural mystery and stylish action.

Behind the Scenes of a Cult Classic

D.N.Angel was directed by Nobuyoshi Habara, best known for his work on the Fafner series. The story composition was handled by Naruhisa Arakawa, while Shinichi Yamaoka created the character designs. The anime’s memorable soundtrack was composed by Tomoki Hasegawa and Takahito Eguchi, enhancing the emotional and suspenseful moments throughout the series. The animation was produced by Studio Xebec, which was active during the early 2000s and worked on a variety of popular shows.

The anime was originally licensed by ADV Films and was later released on DVD by Discotek Media, though those editions are now out of print. With its arrival on Crunchyroll, this romantic action-fantasy is once again accessible to fans new and old.

Whether you’re watching for the first time or revisiting for nostalgia, D.N.Angel offers a unique blend of heartfelt romance, stylish heists, and coming-of-age drama that continues to resonate more than 20 years after its original release.
