Crunchyroll has announced the 4K re-release of Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train in North America (US, Canada) and select international territories starting May 14th. This theatrical return comes ahead of the highly anticipated Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, the first movie in the upcoming Infinity Castle Arc trilogy, slated for a July 18, 2025 premiere in Japan.
Demon Slayer: Mugen Train Returns to Theaters in 4K Ahead of Infinity Castle Arc
Originally released in 2020, Mugen Train became the highest-grossing anime film worldwide. This re-release features an up-converted 4K resolution and remixed Dolby Atmos and Dolby Cinema audio. Select locations in Japan will also offer IMAX, 4DX, and MX4D screenings with enhanced sound and motion-synchronized seating.
The movie follows Tanjiro Kamado and his fellow Demon Slayer Corps members as they investigate mysterious disappearances on a train, facing a powerful demon in a heroic battle.

The Mugen Train re-release builds excitement for the Infinity Castle movie, which will have a global rollout between August 14th and September 25th. The Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba manga by Koyoharu Gotoge ran from 2016 to 2020, and the anime adaptation by ufotable began in 2019. The Mugen Train film was previously adapted into episodes for television, now available on streaming platforms. The anime series also includes the Entertainment District Arc, Swordsmith Village Arc, and the currently airing Hashira Training Arc.
Other upcoming Demon Slayer projects include the Hinokami Chronicles 2 video game sequel (August 1, 2025), a fifth live stage play (this month), and live orchestra and voice acting events (May 2025).
