Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Returns in 2026

Season two is set to premiere on January 16, 2026, airing every Friday at 11:00 PM on NTV’s FRIDAY ANIME NIGHT. Alongside the announcement, it was revealed that Ayana Taketatsu, the voice of the powerful demon Aura, will appear at a special stage greeting during screenings of the second chapter, Aura the Guillotine, across nine theaters in Japan starting October 11. Aura’s limited but memorable appearances in the first season have kept fans eagerly anticipating her return.

The new key visual showcases Frieren, her apprentice Fern, and the warrior Stark floating amidst crystal-like formations, signaling fresh adventures and locations not seen in season one. The artwork reflects the epic scale and emotional depth that the story is known for, promising a season full of magic, action, and heartfelt moments.

Based on the manga by Kanehito Yamada and Tsukasa Abe, serialized in Weekly Shonen Sunday since April 2020, the series follows elf mage Frieren after the Hero’s party defeats the Demon King. Praised for its storytelling, the manga won the 2021 Manga Taisho Grand Prize and has sold over 30 million copies.

Season one ended with Frieren, Fern, and Stark continuing their journey toward Aureole, the resting place of souls. Season two, beginning in January 2026, will adapt the story from chapter 61 of volume seven, promising more magical adventures, challenges, and emotional moments for fans.
