The anime adaptation of “Necromancer Isekai: How I Went from Abandoned Villager to the Emperor’s Favorite” is set for a global release, with distribution handled by REMOW. While specific streaming platforms are yet to be revealed, this news follows the initial announcement in October 2023.
The project’s initial details, including a teaser and staff list, were released in April. Studio Lunch BOX is in charge of animation, with Masahiko Komino directing, Tsutomu Kaneko handling series composition, and Junko Yamanaka designing the characters. Genco is overseeing production.
What’s “Necromancer Isekai Anime” About?
The story centers on Matteo, a former villager who is reincarnated as the adored grandson of the powerful nobleman, Laurence. Matteo possesses extraordinary magical talents, quickly hatching and gaining the loyalty of an ancient dragon named Eva. He also effortlessly wields a legendary sword, infusing it with magical power to create the most potent blade ever. His charm and strength even win over the emperor, who harbors a secret. The narrative follows Matteo’s charmed life as the strongest nobleman, affirmed by all.

The main voice cast shared their excitement for the upcoming anime:
- Matteo is voiced by Maaya Uchida, who expressed her anticipation for the anime’s release.
- Ishtar is voiced by Yuki Yomichi. She emphasized her dedication to the role, practicing lines extensively and noting that viewers will relate to Ishtar’s affection for Matteo.
- Hecate is voiced by Sayako Tojo. She described Hecate as a gentle yet strong character and hopes to bring out her best qualities for the audience.
- Metis is voiced by Mei Igarashi. She conveyed her excitement about being part of the production and exploring various landscapes with her character and friends, aiming to deliver an enriching experience for viewers.
“Necromancer Isekai: How I Went from Abandoned Villager to the Emperor’s Favorite” (Mukuware Nakatta Murabito A, Kizoku ni Hirowarete Dekiai Sareru Ue ni, Jitsu wa Motteita Densetsu-kyu no Kami Skill mo Kakusei Shita) originated as a Japanese light novel series penned by Nazuna Miki and illustrated by Kaito Shibano. It began on the Shosetsuka ni Naro platform in May 2020 and was later acquired by Shueisha, publishing seven volumes under its Dash X Bunko imprint as of May 2024. A manga adaptation, illustrated by Suzume Kumo, started serialization on Shueisha’s Dash X Comic section of the Niconico Seiga website in December 2022, with three volumes released as of May 2025.
