Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is getting an anime adaptation. Crunchyroll has officially announced that the series will stream in 2026. Studio Qzil will produce the anime and will focus on bringing the game’s thrilling battles, dark atmosphere, and memorable bosses into animation.
This marks an important moment for fans, as one of the most popular games is now transformed into a complete anime story.
Crunchyroll Brings Sekiro Anime to Fans Worldwide in 2026
On August 19, 2025, officials announced that Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice will be turned into an anime, which will premiere in 2026. Studio Qzil will make the anime. La, a newer Japanese studio that has worked on projects like the ending of Jigokuraku (Hell’s Paradise).
This suggests the series may have strong visuals and a cinematic style, possibly as a short series with fewer than twelve episodes. Rumors about a Sekiro anime have been around since 2023, but they grew stronger when Kadokawa Corporation, the parent company of FromSoftware, registered the domain “Sekiro-Anime.jp” in July 2025.
This move was similar to what they did for Ghost of Tsushima, which became an anime earlier that year. FromSoftware has also been expanding its work into other media, including an upcoming Elden Ring live-action movie, so the Sekiro anime follows that same trend.

The game itself is not focused on heavy storytelling, but it is rich in world-building, atmosphere, and exciting combat, which makes it a strong choice for anime. The adaptation could either retell the original story or explore new events set in its Sengoku-inspired world.
Fans are especially excited for intense sword fights, emotional moments, and a faithful recreation of the game’s style. Reactions online have been very positive, and with anime streaming being so popular worldwide, the series has a chance to reach both gamers and anime fans alike.
