‘Spirit Bomb’ of Support Needed for Solo Leveling Season 3, Say Producers

RAVI SONI

Aniplex producer Sota Furuhashi and A-1 Pictures animation producer Atsushi Kaneko have indicated that the future of Solo Leveling beyond its current two seasons heavily relies on the enthusiasm of its fanbase. In a recent “Ask Me Anything” (AMA) session on Reddit, the producers addressed the possibility of a third season exceeding the quality of its predecessors. Check out the detailed information about Solo Leveling Season 3 below.

Solo Leveling Season 3: Producers demands support from Fans

Drawing a parallel to Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball, they stated, “Do you know Dragon Ball’s Genki-dama (Spirit Bomb)? We need your energy! If we’re going to make a Season 3, it’s going to take all the support and energy from the fans. I learned that from Akira Toriyama himself!”

This suggests that strong viewership and engagement will be crucial in securing a renewal for the popular anime series.

AMA reveals SOLO Leveling Production Process

The AMA also revealed interesting insights into the production process of Solo Leveling. On average, each episode takes approximately 10 months to complete, with more complex episodes requiring up to 12 months. The team emphasized their dedication to localization, working “almost around the clock” to deliver the series to global audiences in multiple languages shortly after its Japanese release. The Japanese dubbing process for each episode takes about 2 to 3 weeks.

Furuhashi shared his early connection to the series, noting that he became a fan of the webtoon back in 2019, which motivated him to initiate the anime adaptation project at Aniplex. Additionally, the producers disclosed that the impactful song “DARK ARIA” by Hiroyuki Sawano, featured in Episode 6, was a late addition. The team decided to experiment with it, and the result proved to be “even more impactful than we expected.”

Currently, both seasons of Solo Leveling are available for streaming on Crunchyroll with English subtitles and dubbing. Notably, the finale of the second season did not include any announcement regarding a potential Solo Leveling Season 3.

The official synopsis of the series describes the premise: “They say whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, but that’s not the case for the world’s weakest hunter Sung Jinwoo. After being brutally slaughtered by monsters in a high-ranking dungeon, Jinwoo came back with the System, a program only he could see, that’s leveling him up in every way. Now, he’s inspired to discover the secrets behind his powers and the dungeon that spawned them.”
