An anime adaptation of the popular series Akuyaku Reijo no Naka no Hito, known in English as “The One Within the Villainess,” has been officially announced. The news came via a newly launched X (formerly Twitter) account dedicated to the anime project.

Specific details regarding the voice cast, production staff, and premiere date are yet to be revealed. The manga version of “The One Within the Villainess” previously secured the eighth spot in the “Manga We Want to See Animated Ranking” poll at AnimeJapan, indicating strong fan anticipation for an animated version.

The original story, penned by Makiburo, first appeared on the Shosetsuka ni Naro web novel platform in May 2020. Ichijinsha began publishing the physical volumes in February 2021. A manga adaptation by Nazuna Shiraumi was serialized in Comic Lake magazine from November 2021 to May 2025, with its sixth volume slated for release on June 25. The series has achieved considerable success, with reported sales exceeding two million copies.
“The One Within the Villainess” centers on Emi, who finds herself reincarnated as Remilia, an antagonist from an otome game. Despite her efforts to clear her reputation and live peacefully, her plans go awry, leading to the resurgence of the original Remilia, who is determined to seek vengeance.
