Great news for Naruto enthusiasts! After a two-year hiatus, the anime adaptation of Boruto Part II is officially back in production. Check out the detailed information below:

Boruto Part II in production

The confirmation comes directly from the official Japanese website of Studio Pierrot, the renowned animation studio behind the entire Naruto franchise and more. On the series’ overview page, following a summary of the preceding anime, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, a clear message states, “2 production decided!” The original Boruto anime series concluded its impressive six-year run with 293 episodes, airing from April 5, 2017, to March 26, 2023.

Details surrounding the new Boruto anime series are currently limited. However, Part 2, which is widely expected to adapt the Two Blue Vortex arc, marks the first new anime project within the Naruto universe in the past two years. Initially, this distinction was meant to belong to the four-episode 20th-anniversary special planned for 2023.

These special episodes were intended to revisit the early days of Naruto and his comrades during Part 1. Unfortunately, Pierrot postponed these anniversary specials for unspecified reasons, with no new air date announced. The only hint provided for the delay was a desire to “increase the quality” of the episodes. In the interim, Pierrot has been actively involved in the revival of the Bleach anime for streaming platforms like Hulu and Disney+.

The official synopsis for Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Volume 1 offers a tantalizing glimpse into the upcoming narrative: “In a cruel twist of fate, Boruto’s and Kawaki’s lives have been switched due to a powerful jutsu. Now branded a traitor, Boruto is on the run from his village and training with Sasuke. But when Konoha comes under attack, it’s time for a grown-up Boruto to return home and show how powerful he’s become!” The Boruto Part II manga is currently ongoing, with the original Naruto creator Masashi Kishimoto handling the writing and Mikio Ikemoto providing the artwork.

Following the broadcast of the final episode of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations in March 2023, the series’ scriptwriter, Masaya Honda, shared a heartfelt message on X (formerly Twitter) with fans who had followed Boruto’s Part 1 journey.

“Thank you for watching Boruto Part 1,” Honda wrote. “Today, the ending song ‘See you again’ touched my heart even more. I would like to quote a line from the lyrics because it fits my feelings right now. If you want to say goodbye, I’ll add ‘see you again.’ See you someday!” The ending theme he referred to, “Mata Ne” by Humbreaders, translates to “see you later” or “see you again.” Based on this exciting news, it seems that “see you later” has now become “see you soon” for Boruto anime fans.
