Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Becomes 12th Highest-Grossing Film

On its 16th day in Japanese theaters, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle earned around $6.8 million (about ¥16.81 billion total). That was a huge 79% jump from the day before, when it made $3.8 million.

Just this one-day boost helped it beat the lifetime earnings of big movies like Avatar (¥15.9 billion), Detective Conan: Million-Dollar Pentagram (¥15.8 billion), and The First Slam Dunk (¥16.48 billion), pushing them down in Japan’s all-time highest-grossing film list. From the very beginning, Infinity Castle broke records.

Soon, it could pass big names like Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (¥17.30 billion) and Bayside Shakedown 2 (¥17.35 billion) to enter the top 10.

Fastest Film to Cross ¥10 Billion in Japan

On Day 1, it made ¥1.64 billion—the highest opening day ever. In just three days, it hit ¥5.52 billion ($37.5 million), beating Mugen Train’s weekend record. By Day 4, thanks to Japan’s Marine Day holiday, it crossed ¥7.31 billion. On Day 7, it passed ¥10.7 billion, becoming the fastest film in Japan to reach the ¥10 billion mark, two days quicker than Mugen Train.

Within the first ten days, over 9.1 million people had already seen the movie, matching Mugen Train’s pace and making it one of the fastest-selling films in Japanese history. Now, it’s not just earning money—it’s making history. With over 12.1 million viewers, it has already become the 16th most-watched film ever in Japan.

In just over two weeks, Infinity Castle has gone from a much-awaited release to a true box office giant—and it’s still climbing.
