The second American Manga Awards took place on August 21, 2025, with a bright and exciting ceremony at the Japan Society in Manhattan. It was the perfect place to celebrate the art of Japanese comics and how they have grown in North America.
The event was co-hosted by Anime NYC and the Japan Society, and it happened on the opening day of Anime NYC at the Javits Center, which ran from August 21 to 24.

The purpose of the American Manga Awards is to honor the best works of manga released in English. The awards recognize not only the stories and artwork but also the important contributions of translators, letterers, designers, and publishers who make manga enjoyable for fans in the United States and beyond.

- Best Translation – The Otaku Love Connection, Volume 1, translated by minami (Square Enix Manga & Books)
- Best Lettering – Evan Hayden for Ashita no Joe: Fighting for Tomorrow (Kodansha)
- Best Publication Design – Riley VanDyke and Carl Gustav Horn for Planetes, Deluxe Edition Book 1, by Makoto Yukimura (Dark Horse Manga)

The ceremony also gave special recognition to Studio Proteus, a company that was one of the first to bring manga to American readers back in the 1980s. Thanks to their work, famous titles like Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind were introduced to fans outside Japan.
Overall, the 2025 American Manga Awards showed how much manga has grown in the United States. The winners included both exciting new stories and classic works that continue to inspire people today.
