The Barbarian’s Bride Anime Pushes Release to April 2026
The anime adaptation of The Barbarian’s Bride, also known as The Warrior Princess and the Barbaric King, has been delayed. It was originally set to release in October 2025, but will now premiere in April 2026. Studio Jumondō, the team behind Villainess Level 99, explained that the delay is needed to further improve its quality.
The staff also apologized to fans and promised they are working hard to create a show that will be remembered for years, with regular updates shared on official channels.
A big reason fans are still looking forward to it is the strong production team. The anime is directed by Takayuki Tanaka, with Miya Asakawa writing the series scripts. Character design and animation are handled by Masayoshi Kikuchi, Mayumi Fujita, Hajime Hatakeyama, and Lo Ho Kim, while the music is composed by Arisa Okehazama. With such a talented staff, expectations remain high.
The anime is based on the manga by Noriaki Kotoba, which has been serialized in Kodansha’s Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine since January 2021. As of April 2025, nine volumes have been published. The series is also licensed in English by Seven Seas Entertainment, which has introduced the fantasy romance to a wider global audience.

The story follows Serafina de Lavillant, the strongest knight in the West, who is sent to conquer tribes in the East. Her mission ends in failure, and she is captured by the enemy. Instead of being tortured, she is offered marriage by the tribe’s leader, Veor. What first appears to be a cruel fate soon develops into something deeper, as Serafina starts questioning her beliefs and discovers the humanity of those she once dismissed as barbarians.
Although the delay might disappoint fans, it is a clear sign that the studio wants to deliver the best version possible. With a gripping story, rich characters, and a skilled creative team, The Barbarian’s Bride is shaping up to be worth the extra wait when it finally arrives in April 2026
