This latest preview, following others highlighting key figures, delves into the multifaceted personality of Hoshina. It showcases his formidable swordsmanship and combat skills alongside his more lighthearted and playful demeanor.
Kaiju No. 8: Soshiro Hoshina’s Dual Nature Revealed
The upcoming “Kaiju No. 8: Mission Recon” omnibus film presents a condensed recap of the first season, culminating in an exclusive original episode titled “Hoshina’s Day Off.” Notably, the film will also feature the debut of OneRepublic’s new ending theme, “Invincible.” Japanese theaters will premiere the film on March 28th, with North American screenings scheduled for April 13th, 14th, and 16th. Naoya Matsumoto’s original “Kaiju No. 8” manga, serialized in Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ digital manga magazine, is also published in English by VIZ Media. The anime adaptation, directed by Shigeyuki Miya and Tomomi Kamiya at Production I.G, features series composition by Ichiro Okouchi, character designs by Tetsuya Nishio, kaiju designs by Mahiro Maeda, art direction by Shinji Kimura, and music by Yuta Bandoh.

The much-anticipated second season of “Kaiju No. 8” is set to premiere in July 2025, with Crunchyroll streaming the new episodes as they air. The omnibus film is described as:
“In a Japan plagued by Kaiju, Kafka Hibino, a monster disposal worker, aspires to join the Defense Force after reuniting with his childhood friend, Mina Ashiro. His life takes an unexpected turn when he transforms into the powerful ‘Kaiju No. 8.’ With the support of his junior colleague, Reno Ichikawa, Kafka navigates his dual identity while pursuing his dream of joining the Defense Force. A critical situation arises when a mysterious intelligent Kaiju attacks a Defense Force base, forcing Kafka to make a life-altering decision.
