Studio Orange, known for its work on TRIGUN STAMPEDE, has officially announced a July 10th release date for their new anime adaptation of Scott Westerfeld’s novel series, Leviathan. The series will be exclusively available for streaming on Netflix.
Leviathan Anime Lands on Netflix
To mark the announcement, a striking new visual for Leviathan was also revealed. The anime is helmed by director Christophe Ferreira, with Justin Leach and Taiki Sakurai serving as producers. The musical score for the series boasts an impressive lineup of talent, featuring contributions from Nobuko Toda, recognized for her work on Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045, and Kazuma Jinnouchi, known for his compositions in Metal Gear Solid 3 and 4, as well as Halo 4 and 5. Adding to the anticipation, the series will also include original songs crafted by the acclaimed Joe Hisaishi, a long-time collaborator with Studio Ghibli.

Netflix provides a concise yet intriguing summary of the adaptation: “In 1914, on the eve of war, a fugitive prince and a girl in disguise meet aboard a bioengineered airship, the HMS Leviathan, and change the course of history.” This description hints at a compelling narrative set against a historical backdrop with a unique, bioengineered twist.
