My Hero Academia: You’re Next Movie Now Streaming on Crunchyroll

Crunchyroll began streaming the anime movie My Hero Academia: You’re Next today, April 20th. The platform made the film available starting at 5:00 PM Pacific Time. This release comes roughly eight months after its Japanese theatrical premiere on August 2nd, which marked the franchise’s most successful opening. Following its debut in North America and globally in October, the movie was also released on Blu-ray in Japan in February. The film has a runtime of 110 minutes. Netflix had previously announced that they would also begin streaming the movie today.

The production team for My Hero Academia: You’re Next was led by director Tensai Okamura, with Yosuke Kuroda handling the screenplay. Yoshihiko Umakoshi served as the main character designer, while Yuki Hayashi was responsible for both character design and animation direction. Hitomi Odashima took on the role of chief animation director, and Manami Azuta was the art director. The color design was done by Kazuko Kikuchi, and the directors of photography were Mayuko Furumoto and Takashi Sawa. Yota Ando was the 3D director, and Kumiko Sakamoto served as the editor. The music was composed by Yuki Hayashi, and Masafumi Mima was the sound director. Kenji Nagasaki acted as the animation advisor, and the animation studio was BONES. The theme song, “Homunculus,” is performed by Vaundy.

The Japanese voice cast features Daiki Yamashita as Izuku Midoriya, Nobuhiko Okamoto as Katsuki Bakugo, Yuki Kaji as Shoto Todoroki, Ayane Sakura as Ochaco Uraraka, Kaito Ishikawa as Tenya Ida, Tetsu Inada as Endeavor, Yuichi Nakamura as Hawks, Mamoru Miyano as Giulio Gandini, Meru Nukumi as Anna Scervino, and Kenta Miyake as All Might / Dark Might.

The English dub cast includes Justin Briner as Izuku Midoriya, Clifford Chapin as Katsuki Bakugo, David Matranga as Shoto Todoroki, Luci Christian as Ochaco Uraraka, J. Michael Tatum as Tenya Ida, Patrick Seitz as Endeavor, Zeno Robinson as Hawks, Mauricio Ortiz-Segura as Giulio Gandini, Kayli Mills as Anna Scervino, and Chris Sabat as All Might / Dark Might.

Kohei Horikoshi’s My Hero Academia manga ran in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump from July 2014 to August 2024, concluding its ten-year run. Studio BONES produced the first anime adaptation in 2016, followed by six more seasons, with the seventh season ending on October 12, 2024. The eighth and final season of the anime has been announced and will also be streamed by Crunchyroll starting in October, picking up with the climactic battles between All For One/One For All and Deku/Shigaraki.

Currently, fans can also watch the spin-off anime My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, which is set five years before the main series.
