Stephen Fu returns as the voice of Naofumi, continuing his journey in this popular isekai series. The cast for Episode 1 also features Erica Mendez as Raphtalia, Brianna Knickerbocker as Filo, and Lisa Reimold in the dual roles of Atla and S’yne. Other familiar voices include Alan Lee (Ren), Erik Scott Kimerer (Itsuki), and Xander Mobus (Motoyasu/Solea).
Behind the scenes, Courtney Sanford directs the voice cast, with Eric P. Sherman as producer and Henry Mason handling the writing and adaptation. Kenneth Thompson is the mixer, and Krystal Holmes serves as the engineer.

The anime is produced by studio Kinema Citrus, with Hitoshi Haga continuing as director. Keigo Koyanagi is responsible for series composition, while Franziska van Wulfen, Sana Komatsu, and Masahiro Suwa are the character designers. Kevin Penkin is back to compose the music for the series, which is based on the original light novels by Aneko Yusagi and Seira Minami.
The story follows Naofumi Iwatani, an ordinary otaku transported to another world and summoned as the Shield Hero, one of the Four Cardinal Heroes tasked with fighting the Waves of Catastrophe. After a swift betrayal leaves him penniless and disgraced, Naofumi, unable to trust others, enlists a slave named Raphtalia to help him confront the Waves and navigate this new world. Can he overcome his dire circumstances and find a path forward?
