The popular isekai light novel Reincarnated as a Dragon Hatchling is getting a TV anime, which will start airing in 2026. A short teaser video and a visual image have already been shared, giving fans a quick look at the fantasy world and the main character.
While more details will come later, the news has already made anime fans very excited.
Dragon Hatchling Anime Premieres in 2026
On July 25, 2025, it was officially announced that Reincarnated as a Dragon Hatchling will be getting a TV anime that will premiere in 2026. With this news, fans were also treated to a teaser trailer and a key visual showing the main characters—Illusia, the dragon, and Myria, a kind-hearted girl—standing together in a beautiful forest.
The anime is being made by GA-CREW and Felix Film. It is directed by Yūta Takamura, and the story is being written by Tatsuhiko Urahata. The character designs are done by Masahito Onoda, while Hiroyasu Oda is in charge of designing the dragons and other monsters.
Music is being composed by Kō Ōtani, and Tsuyoshi Takahashi is the sound director. Nobuyoshi Arai is also helping out as the assistant director.
The voice cast includes Shun’ichi Toki as the dragon Illusia, Miku Itō as Myria, and Ami Koshimizu as the mysterious “Voice of God” that speaks to Illusia in his head.

This series began in 2015 as a web novel on the website Shōsetsuka ni Narō. It became so popular that it was later published as a light novel with artwork by Naji Yanagida. The series was first published by Earth Star Entertainment and later moved to Square Enix in 2021. By mid-2022, there were already sixteen light novel volumes available.
A manga version of the story, drawn by Rio, also started in 2017 and has grown to eight volumes by 2025. Although the anime was first announced in March 2025, the 2026 release date was only confirmed with this latest update in July.
