The second installment of the “Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club” anime film trilogy has been scheduled for release. As announced at AnimeJapan 2025, the film will debut in Japanese cinemas on November 7th. A refreshed promotional video was unveiled alongside the release date.
Love Live! Nijigasaki Film 2 will air this year
This film series, with the first part having premiered on September 6, 2024, presents a fresh narrative set in Okinawa. The story revolves around the “School Idol GPX” event, positioned after the events of the original anime series and its OVA.
Tomoyuki Kawamura is directing these films at Sunrise animation studio, based on the original concepts by Hajime Yatate and Kurako Kiminosa. Jin Tanaka is responsible for the screenplay, Takumi Yokota for character designs, and Naoki Endou for the musical score.
The “Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club” anime, available for streaming on Crunchyroll, portrays the story of Nijigasaki High School, known for its diverse curriculum and student autonomy. Second-year student Yu Takasaki, inspired by school idols, joins the School Idol Club with her friend Ayumu Uehara. The series explores the dynamics of the club members, who are both friends and rivals, each contributing their unique aspirations to the group.
